Our House

Since Lane and I have known for some time that we would be getting married this summer, we started thinking about a house last year. We looked at all of the real estate guides, but everything in our budget was so old and run down. We considered renting an apartment, but hated the thought of wasting our money on rent when it could be used on a house payment instead.

Last summer we decided to consider building a house. We found a builder, Conaway Homes, that builds those "cookie cutter" houses. You know, the ones that all kind of look the same. However, they will build on your own land, so you won't be able to tell. My parents gave us several acres of land in North Longview, so we decided to go ahead with construction! We're going to be able to build a 3 bedroom house with great features and very high quality construction, all for cheaper monthly payments than an apartment would be. After months and months of frustrating paperwork, we're finally making progress. Wonderful!

Here's the floor plan for our house: (Click to enlarge)

Here's what they outside will look like: (Minus the bushes in front of the garage...haha!)

They started construction earlier this month. Here's the lot before the construction started:

They poured the concrete this week, and framing should start any day now!

Here's hoping it's actually done by the time we get back from our honeymoon....it's going to be cutting it close!

How cool to have your first house the same month you get married! If it stops all the rain I bet it will be done! We are excited to watch it go up.
